The 17-year-old photographer with terminal cancer described her experience meeting Prince William and Princess Kate in a new interview

The Princess of Wales recently announced she completed chemotherapy and is making a slow return to royal duties.

Liz Hatton, a U.K. 16-year-old fighting a rare and aggressive form of cancer, was invited to spend Wednesday afternoon at Windsor Castle photographing an investiture ceremony led by Prince William. She was treated to an unforgettable afternoon, but got another surprise: A personal meeting and hug from Kate Middleton and the prince of Wales.

There was no sort of grandeur about them. It was just humanity and kindness,” Liz Hatton said of her intimate meeting with the Waleses

Kate Middleton held her first official meeting in the Windsor Castle offices she shares with Prince William following the end of her cancer treatments. This week, the princess tapped a special guest to join her in the office as a palace coworker for the day.
