Universal wants a judge to halt discovery in Drake’s defamation lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us," claiming unfairly broad document demands.

Universal Music Group is requesting to dismiss Drake’s federal defamation lawsuit against the label over Kendrick Lamar’s blockbuster song “Not Like Us,” saying in a legal filing that the rapper’s lawsuit is a “misguided attempt to salve his wounds” after he “lost a rap battle that he provoked.

Attorneys for UMG filed a motion to dismiss his lawsuit Monday (March 17) morning, calling Drake’s allegations “meritless” and stressing that public embarrassment is the real reason he chose to sue the conglomerate.
