As more and more countries line up to join BRICS, Chinese leader Xi Jinping is looking to use the summit to showcase an alternative world order and Russian President Vladimir Putin looks to show that he isn’t diplomatically isolated.

Two dozen world leaders will meet in Russia next week for a summit of the BRICS group, an alliance of emerging economies that the Kremlin hopes will challenge Western "hegemony".
