Aldi, along with many other popular brands, has issued a recall of its frozen waffles. Here's everything you need to know to stay safe.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that TreeHouse Foods, Inc. has recalled frozen waffles because they have the potential to be contaminated with listeria, which can cause potentially life-threatening foodborne illness.

A large number of frozen waffle brands and varieties at stores in the U.S. and Canada are part of a voluntary recall due to possible listeria contamination.

This recall yanks frozen waffles from home freezers and stores such as Walmart, Target, Publix, Kroger, Food Lion, H-E-B, Winn-Dixie, Aldi and several other major grocers. READ MORE: Listeria recall of chicken hits Publix,

The nationwide recall includes more than 500 types of frozen waffles sold at Target, Walmart and other grocery chains.
