LANSING, MI — Michigan and 13 other states have filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk in which they describe the tech billionaire as President Donald Trump’s “agent of chaos,” whose access to vast amounts of sensitive data on Americans and sweeping executive authority at the new Department of Government Efficiency violates the U.S. Constitution.

Feb. 13 Attorneys general from New Mexico, Arizona, Michigan and 11 other states sued Musk, DOGE and President Donald Trump alleging Musk’s “virtually unchecked authority” is unconstitutional and “the sweeping authority now vested in a single unelected and unconfirmed individual is antithetical to the nation’s entire constitutional structure.”
