Israel’s military said it reopened an offensive in northern Gaza to combat militants who have resurfaced in the area, issuing sweeping evacuation orders after residents reported heavy artillery shelling overnight.

Israel pounds the densely populated camp as it launches its third ground offensive on Jabalia since the Gaza war began.

The army on Saturday issued new evacuation orders in parts of Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, just north of Deir al-Balah, forcing hundreds of families to leave their houses. The military statement said its forces aimed to operate against Hamas militants who waged attacks from the territory.
