THE HAGUE, Netherlands — U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) could jeopardize trials and investigations at the world’s only permanent global tribunal for war crimes and genocide.

Trump has ordered sanctions on the ICC, which wields power to prosecute individuals accused of genocide, crimes against humanity, crimes of aggression and war crimes.

President Trump says the work of the I.C.C., the world’s highest criminal court, threatens the national security of the United States and its allies, including Israel.
