President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees for the Department of Justice, State Department and more sat for Senate confirmation hearings throughout the day Wednesday.

Trump will then give his second inaugural address on the presidential inaugural platform to thousands of spectators on the National Mall and viewers across the world. Inaugural addresses typically let presidents address the nation’s past and present their vision of the country and its future under their leadership.

WASHINGTON - Former First Lady Michelle Obama won’t be attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20., her office said. Her office did not provide a reason for why she will skip the inauguration.

The planned absence Monday follows another notable absence last week at the state funeral of former president Jimmy Carter.
