SR 18 in Covington reopens following fatal DUI crash
COVINGTON, Wash. - All lanes of State Route 18 have reopened in Covington following a fatal DUI crash on Monday. The collision happened around 3:15 p.m. near State Route 169. According to Washington State Patrol, a 21-month-old baby died, and both drivers were hospitalized.
Troopers with the Washington State Patrol (WSP) tell KIRO 7 they believe the driver accused of causing the crash – was drunk.
Charging documents state the 19-year-old driver was speeding and appeared to be impaired at the time of the fatal crash.
Both directions remain blocked on SR 18 near SE 256th Street in Covington, after a vehicle collision killed one person.
