Terre Compton, a juror in Texas death row inmate Robert Roberson’s 2003 capital murder trial, on Monday told the legislative panel that temporarily stopped his execution that she would not have voted to convict him if presented with new evidence that his current attorneys have put forward.

A man on death row who was set to testify before members of the Texas Legislature on Monday afternoon did not do so after all.

In an 11th-hour turn of events, Robert Roberson, the first person set to be executed in the U.S. based on the largely discredited "shaken baby syndrome" hypothesis, was granted a temporary hold on his death sentence.
