Confirming the ban, Call of Duty developer Activision said that Black Ops 6 has not been approved for release in Kuwait. The company said that it will not be available for release in the region and all pre-orders in Kuwait will be cancelled and refunds will be issued to the original point of purchase.

The tiny Mideast nation of Kuwait has banned the release of the video game “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” which features the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and is set in part in the 1990s Gulf War.

The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to controversy and in a 2009 entry into the series, players could take part in a militant attack on a Russian airport - killing civilians.
