P resident Donald Trump is reportedly finalizing an Executive Order that would attempt to dismantle the Department of Education, which would fulfill a campaign promise as he seeks to shrink the size of the federal government.

Trump repeatedly talked about his desire to close the Education Department, which he alleged “indoctrinate(s) America’s youth with all sorts of things," on the campaign trail.

The president can’t eliminate a federal agency with an executive order lawfully. But he can undermine its functions and redistribute duties.
