Rescue operations by multiple state and central agencies continued for the fourth day on Thursday to locate trapped miners inside an illegal rat-hole coal mine in Dima Hasao district of Assam, officials said.

Indian Navy divers recovered the body of one of the nine miners trapped inside a flooded coal mine in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Wednesday. They were trapped on Monday after the mine became inundated with water.

Multiple agencies, including the Navy and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), have joined the rescue operations to save the eight remaining workers inside the illegal rat-hole mine in Dima Hasao.
