Karolina Muchova ended top seed Aryna Sabalenka's 15-match winning run on Friday to set up a China Open semi-final against Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen.

Karolina Muchova continues her success against Aryna Sabalenka as this time the Czech tennis star defeated the top seed in the Beijing quarterfinal to clinch her third consecutive win over the Belarusian but also end the 26-year-old's run of 15 consecutive wins.

Sabalenka almost took the first set, but Muchova held her nerve, successfully fighting back against two set points before taking the tie-break

Karolina Muchova snapped No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka's 15-match winning streak with a 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4 victory in the quarterfinals of the China Open on Friday in Beijing. With her win in 2 hours and 46 minutes, the unseeded Czech advanced to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 event to face home favorite and No. 5 seed Qinwen Zheng.

Last year, Muchova also famously came back from 2-5 down in the third set of the 2023 French Open semifinal to beat Sabalenka. Since she also defeated the Belarusian in 2023 Cincinnati, she now has three consecutive wins over the world No. 2.

Aryna Sabalenka’s 15-match winning streak ended with a semi-final loss to Karolina Muchova at the China Open in Beijing. The US Open champion was bidding for a third straight tournament victory and led 4-2 in the deciding set but Czech Muchova fought back to win 7-6 (5) 2-6 6-4.
