There are many. There is a free bus called the M (it is green) It runs from 7 to 1 am. You can bar hop all along downtown to midtown Oakland on Broadway and Telegraph where there are tons of clubs and restaurants.

if you stay in the hotel and only walk around jack london square you are probably okay, but some of my colleagues (both male and female) felt uncomfortable when they walked to the bart station. one of my friends got cat-called while she was out running about a block from the hotel. i have to go to the bay area for business once a year, and i will stay *anywhere but here* the next time i have to go.
